410970 2005-12-07 19:46:00 Telecom currently have an outage within their ADSL network which will be causing authentication failures and network isolation for ADSL customers.

Telecom have engineers working on the fault, but have not provided and ETA for resolution of this fault.

410972 2005-12-07 20:48:00 It would appear I spoke too soon.

Our internet is back up.. using our old *jetstream* ip not our bitstream one. This breaks all sorts of stuff for us, well done telecom.

410973 2005-12-07 21:42:00 Strange, for different customers we have a few hundred remote sites on ADSL and none of them are reporting issues... pixeldust (6619)

You don't need ADSL to play Solitaire. ;)

410975 2005-12-08 05:18:00 Well, Pixel Dust, I would like to report to you my issue.
I was off line from midnight Tuesday until now.
My router passed the diagnostic test, I was online, but there was an issue elsewhere. My ISP reported no problems by telephone, but then I am not Xtra, am I.
Xtra, or Telecom can be down and it affests anyone with a copper wire.
How awful, when will we be free?

If you are an "aged member" then you would remember whenthere was no such thing as the net at all.
How did everyone manage? (sarcasm)

410977 2005-12-08 05:31:00 Well, you wouldn't have been one of us who helped put the copper wire in there. so you were never robbed. The "Kiwishare" is supposed to cover that, but it was only ever to be temporary. Telecom is under investigation now for not complying with the original idea of freeing everybody up. When will people learn the these freedom promises are only ever meant to be genuine for the elite only?
No, I didn't do the internet before it was invented. I was too busy with CB radio - before cellphones. If you have one of those, you'll know how expensive they can be. Compare CB radio - a one off cost for registration, with an annual renewal, of course.
They were the days. :stare:

What brand and model of modem do you have eef? Without naming names, it seems to affect some brands/models more than others.

This appears to be an emerging problem with Telecom's network, and AFAIK, unless you are on cable or satellite, it doesn't matter which ISP you use, they are still just reselling bandwidth on Telecom's network and through Telecom's exchanges and DSLAMs. If Telecom's network sneezes, they all catch a cold!

Cheers
