410795 2005-12-07 02:25:00 Hi:

Yesterday, I was happily copying Knoppix of your great new DVD! Then, Kaboom! the computer just restarted it self. After that, I tried copying again off the DVD and the exact same thing happened! I had then resorted to use the handy startup disk to boot DOS and copy. A while later, I was saving a project while and then a shutdown warning popped up:

This system is shutting down. please save all work in progress and logg off. any unsaved changes will be lost. This shutdown was initiated by NT AUTHORITY/System.

MESSAGE
The system process 'C:\windows\system32\lsass.exe' terminated unexpectedly with status code -1073741819 the system will now shutdown and restart.

Now, I'm booting off your handy Knoppix CD. Anyone wanna help me?

410796 2005-12-07 02:36:00 Sounds like you've got Sasser (securityresponse.symantec.com) or Blaster (securityresponse.symantec.com) . Download and run these removal tools.

Dont get on the net, without service pack 1 or 2 installed.

Boot into XP.

As soon as you're in XP, go to start run and type shutdown -a to give you time to run the above tools, to get rid of Blaster or Sasser. Then install SP1 or SP2.

And install a firewall.

410797 2005-12-07 02:51:00 I'd think that too. But I have:

Norton Internet Security 2005
Microsoft Windows XP SP1

Hopefully, one of them will remove what you have.

410804 2005-12-07 03:21:00 BTW, SP2 makes my computer go all cukoo :D

SP2 will screw up a system, if you have spyware/adware on your system.

So, did you run those removal tools?
