2005-12-09 07:58:00 | Went to add and remove, only to find that when opened the programs only go to E, the scroll bar shows to have moved say 5mm,so I then have to scroll a huge distance to find the next programs,in between it is white with black stripes showing in body of box? What is one to make of that? Ta.

2005-12-09 10:04:00 | Could it be that XP is slowly corrupting,I quite often have to click twice where once is usually OK? | Cicero (40) | |
2005-12-09 11:31:00 | Plainly you have the dreaded Zebra Virus, which requires that the PC be buried under at least 2 metres of topsoil to prevent it spreading. imagef1.net.nz However it's probably too late for you now Cicero, as it will have already mutated to pass to humans. Please check all extremities and appendages to ensure they are free of similar Zebra stripes?

2005-12-09 21:05:00 | The problem may well be due to some corruption of the registry, and from the clue in that site I referenced could lie in one of the entries in this key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Uninstall\ What I would do first of all is use System Restore and go back a day or two to a time when this problem did not arise. Alternatively, try a good registry cleaner, though I suspect even a top cleaner would not necessarily correct the problem causing that sort of error. In the referenced site, the answer given was specifically for Autocad icon problems, and the fixes are vbs script files. Not applicable to the Zebra Virus.

The problem with the restore method ,is I wouldn't know when things went wrong, haven't had the need to go to add and remove for weeks. I think I will do a reformat. The problem with that is,I can never remember what to do,but as this is only a toy for me I will battle on. But thanks Ter. Do you think I am in Coventry or what, there seems a dearth of help about? |

2005-12-09 21:44:00 | Uh.....You have Terry and the GF giving you advice, How much futher up the ladder do you wan't to go? | Metla (12) | |
2005-12-09 21:58:00 | Metlas right :) You have a very rare disease there Cic. There was only one defunct Google result apparently. I'm sure GF would have found an answer if it had been there, and so would lots of others. You have nothing to loose, try going back a while with system restore and see what happens. You could also try a repair install from the CD if system restore doesn't work.
