| 411300 | 2005-12-09 09:12:00 | The ISP 'Watchdog' www.watchdog.net.nz offers very good services designed exactly for families wanting secure services. This is straight from their site: "Family Watchdog is an Internet access service enabling families to have safe Internet access at home without the risks of exposure to inappropriate and damaging material." Otherwise, the Firewall program 'Zone Alarm Pro Suite' offers parental control built in that you configure yourself... It's downloadable if you do a search. It also contains Anti-Virus, Anti-Spyware as well as firewall protection - all in one. If you register it, it's about NZ$70 to get full working version. |

I can highly recommend a product called Spector Pro, I heard about it in a review in PC Magazine were it was highly recommended. They also make a remote product called eBlaster. IMHO there is no other parental software that even comes close. http://www.spectorsoft.com/ |

I suggest rather than block stuff that you EDUCATE them into right and wrong, spend time showing them. I did that with my daughter years ago and now as a 14 year old she is extremely Internet Savy and knows what things to stay away from. Even the best of us get caught out at times. My daughter is quite familar with all the popup blocking stuff, malware, spyware, AV, firewall software and also spends time helping her friends get more Internet savy. |
