| 411471 | 2005-12-09 20:09:00 | My cd drive is not working!!!! When you insert a cd the little cd icon appears by the mouse cursor, but nothing happens. When I open up My Computer the icon says DVD Drive ( D: ) [and not the album title as it used to]. When I double click on it I get the error message: "Windows cannot read from this disk. The disk might be corrupted or it could be using a format that is not compatible with Windows". I double click again and it says "please insert a disk into drive D:" I've right clicked on it and got its properties- the drive is enabled and 'working properly'. Device Manager also says the drive is working fine. I have uninstalled the drive, restarted the computer and XP has reinstalled it. However nothing has changed. Plus it doesn't matter if it's a music cd, dvd or cd of photos. ARRGH! Any help would be greatly appreciated!!! |

I would recommend trying the drive in another PC before tossing it (You have double checked all cables to in inside one assumes?) |
