256mb 6600 Geforce
3ghz Pent 4

It takes me about 1min 10 to load a map if it's being fast and about 2 seconds to verify. Once I get into the game I have only 15fps for most of the game. This is confusing!?! Shouldent I be performing higher? I defragged my comp, ran a ton of virus and spyware and internet security stuff. Nothing has changed...

Ideas?

411364 2005-12-09 08:19:00 Is that a bog standard 6600...or a GT?

Either way you have to adjust the graphical detail to fit the rigs capabilities.

And turn off everything you can under startup, and uninstall Nortons if thats what your running.

411365 2005-12-09 08:22:00 I have low graphic settings and I don't think I have gt. I even had this problem worse before norton. Warhog (7975)

BF2 really likes lots of RAM - yes 2GB.

411368 2005-12-11 02:40:00 try updating your drivers or you might want to check out omega drivers which u can download from www.omegadrivers.net jason_f90 (3544)
411369 2005-12-11 03:22:00 The nvidia Omega drivers are configured for quality, not framerate, They came into being due to nVidia releasing drivers that ran faster but at the cost of visual quality, They are not something you grab when your trying to get performance.

His Omega ATI drivers on the otherhand were created because he figured he could just do a better job, resulting in top performance, features, stability and visual quality.

He must have been right...His ATI drivers are damn sweet and ATI gave him a job....

I found his ati drivers awful. Went back to the normal ones.

A standard 6600 would be the problem.

I agree BF2 is a memory hog, 2 gig is recommended amongst the community (not officially). My load time dropped by about 25 seconds to about 40 seconds when I went from 1 -2gig.

Unfortunately the vanilla 6600 video card is a bit of a slug, even the 6600gt is a tad tardy when 1280x1024 with decent detail enabled. You need a better video card realistically if you want good FPS, and that is the bottom line.

411372 2006-04-17 05:01:00 turn graphics to a minimum and get more, higher quality ram with lesser latentcy. i'd strongly recommend a gt

what you may notice is the 128mb cards are faster than the 256mb ones. the ram is faster, and i beleive the gpu is also faster.

perhaps you should upgrade to a 128mb gt?
