411333 2005-12-09 04:47:00 I started this year on a 3 MegaBit domestic connection, best I could get (bang for buck) it is now a 2 MBS connection.
Ringing around, I can not find a server offering MORE than a 2 MBS speed.
This aint Broadband!
Save me another frustrating hour and point me to an 8 MBS Domestic connection... PLEASE (without breaking the wallet)

411334 2005-12-09 04:54:00 If youre in NZ I doubt you'll get 8 let alone anything faster than 2.

If you're elsewhere besides NZ, there's no point asking us. If you're in another country.

411335 2005-12-09 05:39:00 Oh I'm here (NZ)

I thought as much, 2 MBS is it.
If I threw out the SKY TV (savings of $85.00/mth)
And, threw out the Mobile Phone (400 mins for $150.00/mth)
Got rid of the house phone and used VoIP ( $45.00/mth)
Sold the car and took Public Transport ($200.00/mth)

Do you think I could bribe someone?
pissed (9307)
411336 2005-12-09 05:44:00 lol, I doubt a bribe will work.

It'll be better if u moved to Sweden, China or Hong Kong. The fastest and the cheapest are here.

411337 2005-12-09 05:53:00 telstraclear have a 10mb plan on there cable network plod (107)
411338 2005-12-09 06:04:00 Yeah, But It is the "lifestyle" here <S>, and I was born here anyway.
I've tried to find out where cable is laid but coming up against a wall.
Copper technology is available to to support what I would like, but...
And that is the question, do they (servers) want more money?

411339 2005-12-09 09:13:00 I thought you must have already bribed someone - to get that name approved...
... bearing in mind the rules.
Or do you get by on charm?

411341 2005-12-09 09:35:00 I've tried to find out where cable is laid but coming up against a wall.Auckland and Christchuch CBDs I believe (maybe Wellington as well?).

And that is the question, do they (servers) want more money?I doubt most people would pay them more money. However, maybe you would contact Telecom directly and ask how much extra it would cost to have your connection personally sped up to 8MBit. If you are a long way from the exchange though you may almost be at your max already. :)
