412298 2005-12-12 22:29:00 Brand new, or second hand?

I doubt you will get something brand new and reasonable for that price although I just looked at Ascent, and for a few dollars more you will get Liteon (which aren't too bad)

412299 2005-12-12 22:35:00 CD-RW's are pretty cheap now - see here (www.pricespy.co.nz). I have two Samsung optical drives and find them good and quiet to use. They have a nice front panel as well. Think Samsungs normally come bundled with Nero as well. Jen (38)

412301 2005-12-12 23:44:00 oh hell yes you can easily buy a cd burner for $50 that will do a fine job and in fact you'd be silly to pay more.......$45 should also get you one........an lg perhaps or samsung ......... drcspy (146)
412302 2005-12-12 23:46:00 dunno how many cdburners i've bought in the last few years, (I'm a tech so I install them often for folks), and they ALL came with nero bundled as far as I recall.........cant tell you which is better quality i've personally had samsung one die but that took 18months of hard use ....... drcspy (146)
412303 2005-12-12 23:47:00 Just bad luck? that mine didnt work? - it kinda put me off samsung. Dannz (1668)
412304 2005-12-12 23:58:00 ASUS, Liteon, Pioneer.
I'd seen too many dead Samsungs...
And Aopen is the worst I've seen.

if the samsung wouldnt burn, then you should have returned it. i've sold/setup about 50 this year - only 1 faulty - returned for another -ok.
