412131 2005-12-12 08:45:00 Post a hijackthis (www.merijn.org) log here. It maybe a dialler. Unzip the file first, then run it / scan paste the log here.

412132 2005-12-12 08:58:00 I would ring your ISP first and see if they have been disconnecting you, or been having tech issues
I know when I was on dialup on a certain unnamed ISP they would disconnect you every so often.

412133 2005-12-12 11:04:00 Xtra ditches my dialup connection religiously once a day at the same time usually. However, every 20-30 minutes is pretty bad. Have you tried plugging a phone into the line and listening for noise and crackling etc? It may just be line condition or if you're rural, a badly earthed electric fence nearby. Catweazle (2535)
412134 2005-12-12 16:35:00 Had you unwittingly activated the auto-disconnection every so-and-so minutes etc.?

Cheers :)

412135 2005-12-12 19:27:00 To stay connected as long as possible, you can try "stay connected" services, such as: = http://www . time-scout . com/

Stay Live 2000 keeps your Internet Dial-Up Connection active and on-line by periodically sending a small TCP/IP packet to one of the many Atomic Clocks maintained by the United States Government . = . snapfiles . com/get/staylive . html" target="_blank">www . snapfiles . com = "Sending these small packets prevents your ISP from dropping your connection due to inactivity . You may also optionally select to have your computer`s internal real-time clock updated each time one of these packets is sent and a response is returned from an NIST Time Server . You can use this utility in one of two ways . Either run your web browser or other Internet software and then launch Stay Live to keep your connection active, or launch Stay Live first to establish an Internet connection and then run your web browser or other software . "

keep in mind that the dial-up services have caught on to this, and many of them are now set up to disconnect you after a certain number of hours, even if there is activity on your line .
