411787 2005-12-11 09:24:00 Just got this webcam recently. It works Ok axcept that I'm unable to take a picture with this webcam when I am loging on to an user account without Administrative privilege. Error message says, ' Unable to save picture to "".'

It works fine when I log on to user account with administrative privilege, however.

OS: XP Pro SP2

Any suggestions?

cheers

411788 2005-12-11 10:03:00 Hello BK T. Have you properly adjusted the settings of the webcam to allow non-administrative user accounts to use the webcam? Does it come with a driver? If yes, try re-installing them. No guarantee if any of my "solutions" might work.

Cheers :)

Thanks, JamesKan.

Yes, it comes with the driver. Went throught all the settings in the attached CD software but could not find any settings concerning Administrative rights issue.

411790 2005-12-12 00:50:00 Any settings like that will be in the system adminsitration stuff, not the application software. It hasn't got the (Adminstrator) privilege to do that. That's the problem. ;)

Try uninstalling, then log on as Adminstrator and install it. Somewhere in that process there's probably an option which allows you to say "users" can use it.

Uninstalled and reinstalled both driver and software, nothing mention about 'user' account rights issue. Problem remains.

Maybe I should try to contact Logitech?

411792 2005-12-12 09:49:00 When you installed the software for the camera, did it give u the option for you or all users?

Are you using the program (if it came with one), or are you using the cam from within My computer, to take a pic?

No. There is no option as regards user rights.

I'm using the program, My Logitech Pictures.

411794 2005-12-12 21:52:00 Does an icon appear in My computer for it??

If it does, see if it works in My computer .

Whats it say in device manager for the cam?

Thanks, Speedy.

There is an icon in My Computer and it works OK in My Computer. Device Manager indicated that it is Logitech QuickCam Express which is correct.

Phone Logitech Support and he asked me to download the new version. Downloaded and installed but it doesn't rectify the problem.

Phoned them again and am now waiting for their reply.

411796 2005-12-13 02:29:00 Try right clicking on the icon, and looking at the properties (you might need to "find the target") . The access option might be there. Graham L (2)
