411738 2005-12-11 06:58:00 Hey Guys

Getting a bit sick of 33K :groan: so I am borrowing a 56K modem off a friend and he has no driver disk or documentation with it.

How am I able to tell what modem it is and what drivers I need?

Thanks :D

411739 2005-12-11 07:00:00 Ususally the card itself has a brand name, model number and/or a FCC ID number. bob_doe_nz (92)
411740 2005-12-11 07:08:00 On one of the ICs it has

Conexant
RH56D-PCI
R6795-12
E46573.1
0028 HONG KONG

in that exact layout, oh and I should say I am running windows 98 SE

411742 2005-12-11 07:29:00 See if one of the driver files for 98SE from here (www.conexant.com) work.

Click on modem driver assistance, and scroll down and click on agree.

411744 2005-12-11 23:10:00 On this surplus pc running Win98SE, it has two modems listed under device Manager, if I delete one or tother it falls over and have to do a Scanreg_/restore, in which case it does not send out faxes.

Device Manager shows:

HCFMODEM: Conexant PCI Modem Moderator
Modem: Conexant HCF V90 56k Data/Fax PCI Modem

both have the same Connexant 3-16-2000 driver.

2 IBM PCI ring cards were taken out of the machine to get the modem to function. It was a Microsoft NT/Win98 machine.
