411701 2005-12-11 02:28:00 I've got music videos playing in one screen while I am doing work in the other screen, but if WMP doesn't have focus when it changes song, the other screen goes back to showing whatever is on my primary display.

Any ideas on how to fix this? I just discovered you can fullscreen a video on one screen without doing the same to the other screen & I love it.

411702 2005-12-11 02:42:00 Depends what the videocard is on how u configure it.

(Is the card Nvidia or ATI)?

411703 2005-12-11 03:25:00 I've got a geforce 4 Ti4200. It seems to work fine sometimes and not others. It also sometimes switches between which monitor it uses when I use the next/previous buttons. Very strange. Greven (91)
411704 2005-12-11 03:34:00 I take it the Nvidia drivers are installed?

Whats it connected to? another monitor? TV?

How is whatever (TV/monitor), connected to the card?

Has the card got 2 vga connections on it? S-Video? RCA? DVI?

411705 2005-12-11 10:39:00 I've got the latest NVidia drivers installed (I think. I'll check it out when I wake up tomorrow). I've got dual VGA & single S-Video outputs. I've got a 17" CRT as my primary display on one VGA & a 15" LCD on the other VGA connector.

I am playing my vids on the LCD by right clicking on them in explorer & selecting "play on my" --> "ViewSonic VE510+". This opens up windows media player with the music video fullscreen on the LCD & normal on the CRT. Is that a standard windows function, or did the video drivers add that option?

I've been looking at attaching a monitor to my laptop to get different displays on each screen as LCD on laptop is not good for judging brightness, colour etc when editing photos.
From what I've read, display card must support the dual monitor mode and the appropriate drivers loaded.

If using WinXP, 2000, 2003 - R/click on desktop, choose properties then settings. S/be 2 boxes displayed labelled 1 and 2 indicating primary and secondary display. Click on the boxes for options to change resolution and colour separately for each monitor.

Each type of monitor has a limitation about the max resolution it can display.
Box 2 usually applies to the extra monitor you are using. R/Click on it, check resolution etc, and choose the "extend my windows desktop onto this monitor" option. Then click apply. The appearance of the second desktop will depend upon the primary desktop configuration.

Note: at this stage I have not connected the other one as yet. Am moving my desks and shelves etc to get the computer and its bits and pieces side by side with the laptop and sort out all the cords to avoid confusion when I switch between 1 monitor to 2 monitors back to 1 monitor again.
Will be interested to see how you get to solve your problem so I know what to expect with my cheap setup.

411707 2005-12-12 02:03:00 These new drivers suck. They have all the problems of the old drivers, plus it no longer remembers that I want my vids fullscreened on my LCD. Now I have to tell it to play a video on my LCD, then load up my playlist.

I haven't found a way in media player to tell it to full screen on the LCD - I have to go through explorer.

411708 2005-12-12 02:08:00 If the Nvidia drivers are installed, u click on the desktop / properties / settings / advanced / name of the card / full screen video. Speedy Gonzales (78)
