412687 2005-12-14 20:33:00 I wanted to delete some of the files/folders from my HDD but access denied. Checked the properties and found that they are 'read only' . I'm unable to change the attributes of those files/folders.

How do I get rid of those files/folders from my HDD?

Cheers

412688 2005-12-14 20:38:00 What are the files? Are they files you created?

Try deleting them in safe mode, if you created the files/folders.

If they're programs that were installed. uninstall the program/s first.

412690 2005-12-14 20:55:00 Try deleting them in safe mode, and make sure none of the files are running, before you delete them. (If you're trying to delete them in normal XP). Speedy Gonzales (78)
412691 2005-12-14 21:03:00 Thanks, got rid of them in safe mode.

But I don't understand why it can only be done in safe mode.

412692 2005-12-14 21:05:00 What kind of files were in the folder/s??

Just text files? Or actual programs or something?

They are some *.pdf files and are not in used at all.

412695 2005-12-14 23:47:00 so maybe you've got adobe running in the background? I don't actually know if that would do it but....like....maybe....:D mark c (247)
