2005-12-13 22:47:00 | Hello, Sometime ago I played a game called Quake III Arena with a mod called Dragonmod Z installed. I then wanted to delete it so I used 'Add/Remove Programs' to remove it. However the shortcut to it is still in the Start Menu under All Programs->Quake III Arena->Remove Dragonball Z. I tired right-clicking on 'Quake III Arena' and deleting it. First a messsage came up saying 'Modifying this folder will affect all users who log on to this computer. Do you want to continue?'. I then clicked 'yes' but when I checked it was still there. What I want to know is how I can delete this file. Thanks Michael

Thanks Michael If you got it off of P2P, then try deleting it through the P2P; re: if you got the file from a P2P, then you will probably have to go back into the P2P to delete/remove/uninstall it . It could be because files were downloaded from a file sharing service, or be programs that are enabled to automatically check for updates periodically . Have yoiu tried going into safe mode to delete it? majorgeeks . com/Unlocker_d4660 . html snapfiles . com/get/moveonboot . html scancomplete . com/download/killbox . php dban . sourceforge . net |

2005-12-13 23:17:00 | Hi, I don't think is is from a P2P program . I have tried unlocker but that does not work as the drop down menu does not appear when I right click on the file itself . The screen just blinks . How do you browse to the file using MoveOnBoot as when going into the start menu folder not all the files in that folder show . With killbox when I tried to visit the site it said that the requested URL was not found . DBAN wipes out the whole hard drive doesn't it? But I just want to remove that one file . So any further suggestions? Michael

2005-12-14 02:02:00 | Hey, The removal of the file has been successful. Here's what I did. I first installed unlocker and then I searched for the folder that the file was in. I found the folder, went into it and then deleted it using Unlocker. A message first came up that no lock was found but that unlocker could help delete the file and it did. Thanks a lot for your help Sultan_Emerr. I really appreciate it. Michael

2005-12-14 02:30:00 | Michael, it looks as if you didn't need the unlocker. :D When you tried to delete the directory ("folder") it still had a file in it. Although you can often delete a non-empty directory after a "do you mean it?" type prompt, this one had held a programme, and there might have been a registry entry which caused the deletion to be stopped. Probably, all you had to do was go in and delete the file first, then work up. | Graham L (2) | |
