412260 2005-12-13 05:01:00 Most monitors have knobs or dials to adjust the brightness, maybe some of these got knocked?
Possible that the monitor plug may not be correctly inserted into the mobo connection.
Possible also the monitor is looking towards monitor heaven .. if this is the case, may it rest in peace and die knowing it has served you well :)

412261 2005-12-13 05:04:00 You may have to get another one, it is probably going kaput. The high humidity we are experiencing is not always a good thing for high voltage supplies.

15" monitors can't be given away, about $5 or less at Turners, 17" about $20 or less, and there were some 21" monitors going for about $50 at the last auction in Wellington.

412262 2005-12-13 05:09:00 Could it be just the hig humidity....maybe it will get better when its cooler? I was running it pretty hot for about 4-5hours.....could this be it?

P.S. The screen was everywhere....size and shape all wrong!

None of that is going to help. It is a very old monitor and has probably just had the electronic equivalent of a heart attack.

This: P.S. The screen was everywhere....size and shape all wrong is the biggest clue.

There is only one practical thing you can do, and that is try it on another computer just to reassure yourself that it really is stuffed.

As others have pointed out, a much better and bigger second-hand monitor can be bought for peanuts now.

Cheers

412267 2005-12-13 06:55:00 Ok, ok, that was a silly thing to ask: "Is it anything in the cpu? ", I was really angry with it. Can enayone suggest where I can get good second hand monitors, and where from (in Auckland) and what brands (I hear Phillips and AOC are good ones, other than going all the way to a turners auction! Thanks for all your help!

*Edit*
I have been using it for 3 years, can it be dead so soon?
