| 413349 | 2005-12-18 05:22:00 | Video tests here. www.tomshardware.com I would say 6800 GT becos 6600 is ok but some new games may not be .. also to the games that is released a bit later on ... but again, expect 6 months later the 6800GT card will lag esp with the new released games. CPU around 3.2ghz or not much more. 1GB is sensible. One stick? So you get another 1GB stick later for dual? Just to maximise ur slots. Anything else just pick and match .. 6800 GT is a good buy thats $450 arn't ti? 7800 arn't that $900 or $1300? Its the top is not it. Check www.pricespy.co.nz . Depends on how much u wanna spend. But 7800 IMO is high end. Check this game out one of the more intensive ones re: graphic cards. www.tomshardware.com As you can see 6600GT crawls for a sensible buy card 6 months ago. Now that best buy IMO is the 6800 GT. But you can get 7800 it depends on money. |

But FEAR is playable on less. My son runs it with AMD XP 2700 1Gb DDR400 !28mb Ti4200. I cranked up the settings on his the other day, not full out but enough to cause them to show up in red and give me warnings. Then loaded one of the saves with lots of action and it ran well. Surprisingly well. But sensibly - 6800GT...Or X800Pro (not lower) |

| 413353 | 2005-12-19 05:00:00 | Who put this at the bottom of the threads :(?Who put what where? If this thread is displaying with the last post added (time wise) at the bottom of the thread, that would be because you have selected "Linear Mode" under Display Mode. If you want your thread to display in Threaded Mode (with the thread map at the top), then select either Hybrid or Threaded as your display option. You can set your preferred thread display mode globally under UserCP > Options > Thread Display Options If this is not what you were meaning, then perhaps clarify your comment a bit more. :) |

| 413356 | 2005-12-20 02:15:00 | There're selling them again cheap, celeron D systems. My PC started out life as an Acer t300 $1099 Celeron D 2.6 Ghz (tiny bit of l2 cache) 256MB RAM (DDR333) Intergrated AC97 audio Intergrated SIS video As it started it wouldn't play much so I added Another 256MB RAM (about $90 dicksmith, 5 year warranty) A hardware accelerated genius 4.1 sound card ($40 harvey norman) GeForce 4 MX4000 (yes I know but t'was good enough) (around $100) To remember: Since the celeron D they have used the same motherboard as the P4 so you can upgrade to that too. You'll wan t get a bigger case, probably from dick smith too. |
