413091 2005-12-16 13:27:00 Usually once a week or fornight as my computer is very fast. When i had a 200mhz and was running windows 98se.I defragged practically everyday.Ever since upgrading to windows xp.Only notice a marginal difference after upgrading.

Which degraggers do u guys use?I use executive diskeeper!Works great. However it slowed my friend's laptop but did the opposite after defragging my computer..I wonder why.

How long does that take?
When it tells me I don't need to I do it anyway and it can take 1 - 2 hrs.

413099 2005-12-17 02:02:00 never - ext3 filesystem on the linux machines, and the windows ones get formatted about once every couple of months anyway. Erayd (23)
413100 2005-12-17 02:10:00 I run defrag at least twice a month. I have a lot of ripped DVD's and music that I am constantly moving and shifting around. I also keep two copies of every one...a zipped version and an unzipped one too.

With 8 200 gig HDDS and a 40 gig, it takes a while..but I notice some serious speed loss if I don't defrag at least that much.
