Leave it on, does it crash and if so how long does it take to do that? Now, take floppy drive out. Leave HD in. How long does it crash? If that still crash why don't you go to bios or go to windows and monitor the temperature via bios or via the motherboard software. What is the temperature and how is it to the stage windows shuts down. Lastly if its not temp. Download this utility from Western Digital and run it, maybe from DOS bootdisk. support.wdc.com |

Windows XP gives you formatting options during the install. You shouldn't need other drive software. Do you get to this point?I don't want to state the obvious but,Windows reboots on it's own several times during the installation. If you can pay good attention what is loading when it shuts down. This could be your best clue as to what is going on.If it fails at the same point all the time it could point you to the problem.Did you change out the MB? Some are very fussy about which ram slot you populate first. | howardepgco (9451) | ||
