414076 2005-12-20 05:06:00 Hi, I have a problem with Outlook Express I would like to get to the bottom of. My PC is an old HP 300 celeron, 256 Ram, Win 98 2nd edition, Outlook Express 6.
Problem is, in Outlook Express, when I go to "Tools" > "Accounts" > "Properties" > "Servers" then look at "Incoming Mail (POP3)" The info in this box changes from my POP3 settings to, For example 12?.0.0.1 and the same goes for the "Outgoing Mail (SMTP)" Box. Also my "account name" changes from "my username" to "my username#POP3.my ISP.co.nz" and lastly the "My server requires authentication" has a tick placed in the box. Can anyone please help me with this one.
Cheers.

414077 2005-12-20 05:16:00 What is actually the problem? Are you unable to send or receive emails?

What anti-virus program are you using? Some, such as Avast, will change the settings to what you are seeing so unless you are having sending or receiving problems there is no need to worry about it.

414080 2005-12-20 06:03:00 I have had Avast put those settings in OE on a Win 98 computer. Doesn't do it on Win XP. FoxyMX (5)
