413716 2005-12-18 19:03:00 I want to buy a new harddrive, In particular I was looking at the Maxtor 200GB SATA DiamondMax 10 (6L200M0).

The only problem I have is that I cannot determine if the drive supports SMART or not.

Can anyone confirm whether it does or doesn't?

413718 2005-12-18 19:37:00 why not get a seagate 200GB that has a 5 year warrenty? Prescott (11)
413719 2005-12-18 20:05:00 see data sheet (maxtor.com)
On that data sheet it doesn't mention SMART but there is a logo saying SMART certified.

Read it and then buy the Seagate...

413721 2005-12-18 22:30:00 Because seagate are :yuck: and make me :badpc:

I guess SMART is too common to list as a feature, but I thought that some of the earlier SATA drives did not have SMART support??

413723 2005-12-19 01:05:00 I have 3 seagate drives in my pc and they are quiet, fast and reliable. With the 5 year waranty you can't lose. Sb0h (3744)
