| 414236 | 2005-12-20 16:14:00 | Friend of mine bought an FX5200 4-6 weeks back. He popped it into the AGP slot and everything has been running fine until last night. On start up, the monitor front light goes green for about 3 secs, the returns to a power down orange. At no point is anything seen to happen on the monitor screen including a memory count. If the card is removed from the motherboard, the onboard graphics quite happily fire up and the machine loads. I have tested the card on my own motherboard, and a similar problem occurs, except it also causes my motherboard to beep wildly. The motherboard is not being overloaded and all other systems, including the monitor seem fine. I have checked the BIOS and it is still set to the correct slot. There is power reaching the card as the heatsink is warming. The only logical conclusion is the card for some reason has died. Before I take it back to the shop it was purchased from (since if they test it and it by some miracle it works, they charge me a small sum of cash), I wished to get the opinion of others. Many thanks. |
