I don't use any of this stuff or the programs they are linked with. The only way to have it delete this stuff is if i buy the full version. I don't have the money for it and i'm not sure if this stuff is even that bad to have on my comp. I ran AdAware SE after this prog to see if it would catch the same things. the only thing AdAware SE found was:

Tracking
IEcache entry
data miner
cookie:ballrz@statcounter.com

Should i delete this stuff and if so how do i do it?

414427 2005-12-21 07:14:00 Use this (www.lavasoftusa.com) this (www.safer-networking.org/) or check out the FAQ (http: 16) Speedy Gonzales (78)
414428 2005-12-21 07:17:00 most of those 'run the scan free but pay to remove' programs are really only finding 'false positives' to trick youinto buying the program.........go here:

www.trendmicro.com

and run the a/v and spyware scan......you can BELIVE whatever it says.........if it says 'nothing' then believe it .............trendmicro are TOTALLy trustworthy

414429 2005-12-21 07:29:00 thanks for the reply but your first list took me to Ad-Aware SE. I already have that and it did not detect the above issues. My question was about AdWare Alert found at www.adwarealert.com

How do i delete HKEY items without having to purchase another program to do the same thing the others i have are supposed to do.

I am running:
Ad-Aware SE Pro
Ad-Watch SE Pro
Spyware doctor
Spyware blaster
Norton System Works 2003
STOPzilla (popup blocker)

The sad part is even after running all of these programs. AdWare Alert still found things that these others didn't. I refuse to purchase any more of these things. Why can't they make ONE that will find ALL of the problems.

414431 2005-12-21 07:51:00 errrrrrrrrrrrr....yeh dont you read too well ?...........as I said many of these programs which give you a 'free' scan/download then find stuff that's not even there................i reckon you've got one of those.........ad-aware and spybot are to be TOTALLy trusted and if you have a program that's findin a whole lot of stuff 'supposedly' then askin youi for money to remove it ......then I'll GUARANTEE it's finding 'false positives'.............. drcspy (146)
414432 2005-12-21 20:53:00 Most of AdAware "false" positives are tracking cookies, such as doubleclick's .

From Internet Explorer,
Tools . . . Internet Options
"Delete Cookies"

This should eliminate all "false" positives, except "Alexa" which is part of many standard Windows installs .

True the fine folks at Lavasoft . de want you to buy their product, but I've never had any problems with AdAware .

I wouldn't personally consider tracking cookies in the spyware category, but deleting them is a good idea .

414433 2005-12-21 22:26:00 Sry drcspy, i must have been typing my reply when you were. At the time your comments were not posted. Thx, for the info. new2424 (8187)
414434 2005-12-22 02:42:00 I think for anti-spyware software the best combination is Spybot and Ad-Aware. It works for me best, so give it a try. You'd have a better hit rate this way. Albert (482)
