415167 2005-12-23 04:13:00 Hi Team

What are the most reliable brands of printable DVDs, and where do you go for the best prices. They are not listed on Pricespy and even the ads in PCW are no help.

Xmas Cheers

415168 2005-12-23 04:41:00 I've found Princo brand to be the most reliable, and cheapest too. If you are in Auckland, or are buying other things, QMB seems to be the cheapest. Otherwise Ascent also have them.

I have recently bought a spindle of 50, and I've been very happy with them. A friend of mine have used them to burn over 200 educational DVDs, and only found one faulty disk out of the lot.

415169 2005-12-23 04:56:00 I have always been a fan of Princo but have been a looking around for a better printable surface and 8x speed. Found some phillips branded dvd (8x) that so far have been very satisfactory. It has strange packaging (no spindle so care needed when opening) and the price was only $1 more than 50 pack of princo's (4x)

From what I have heard some media suit certain dvd burners better than others. Might be worth a check of your dvd burners website to see what they recommend.

My Lite on performs well with both Princo and Phillips.

Got them from PB Tech.

415170 2005-12-23 05:10:00 Funny, I found Princo to be crap. Using a Lite-On burner anyway. I am now using an Asus burner (firmware changed it to a Pioneer) and I only use Imation printable discs now cos they are the only ones I have tried without problems.

But then I read a post here about a month ago slagging Imation and putting Verbatim on a pedestal. Haven't tried Verbatim so can't comment on them.

End of the day I think you've just gotta try them out and see what works for you.

I started this response with the intention of being helpful but now see I rally haven't!!!

Sorry.

415171 2005-12-23 06:45:00 Just bought a 100 stack of Sony 8x printables from E-One in manukau city for $40 + GST EX-WESTY (221)
415172 2005-12-23 21:56:00 Princo - I have used the 4x ones and just got a spindle of 50 8x ones.
I have burnt about a dozen on the 8x discs and no problems yet.
They are also the most reliable in my XBox
My supplier was selling the 8x ones for about $22 a spindle but I think they are now $30.
