| 414811 | 2005-12-22 07:52:00 | I am thinking of geting a new anti virus (becase im sick of how slow norton is) but i cant find the serial number anyware so what hapens if i uninstall it and then reinstall it later(unlikely but i want to know just incase) norton antivirus 2003 windows xp sp1 thanks |

IMHO Edit: Not meaning to say that linux users would be familiar with AVs coz they need to be but rather that a linux user (in my estimation) would be both familiar with IT and also computers to know enough to explain themselves comprehensibly. PS this is to the enduring credit of the image linux has created. I am a linux believer but not yet a user. :D |

If totally private and nothing too important resides on it, AVG will be fine. If, on the other hand, you have business, your thesis, or other such data, go with something more robust like NOD32. |

| 414820 | 2005-12-22 18:22:00 | If you do remove Nortons and end up with issues trying to reinstall, you can d/load 1 of 2 apps to completely remove it (or manually go through the registry) The apps are [either] SymNRT or Rnav (depends on the version you are removing) Both can be found on the Symantec site As for a replacement.. I'm thorougly impressed with NOD32, am using freebie on laptop as a test and it seems to be passing with flying colours :D (better than AVG Antivir and Avast) |
