Or you tried a recovery and it didn't fix the issue? You need to be more specific so we can give you appropriate advice. :) If your computer does not boot from the installation CD, then you need to go into the BIOS setup and change the boot order. To get into the BIOS you normally push the DEL key when you see a message about pushing DEL to enter setup. This message is normally only displayed for a few seconds at the bottom of the screen as the computer first starts up and displays details about your computer (POST). Question on the above and also the exact settings,where they are found in BIO's exact. Before you even consider connecting to the internet again, a freshly installed XP is at great risk of being infected. Does your OS come with SP2 already included? You can check this under Control Panel > System > General Tab. Please ensure XP's built in firewall is activated at a minimum. Do not go onto the internet without the firewall activated. Install a good Antivirus program next and update the definitions, followed by visiting the MS Windows Update website and download any critical or security patches. Installing a decent third-party firewall will also be beneficial. You can configure your email client by following the instructions here (www.xtra.co.nz). Those settings are for Xtra. If you wish to configure the machine for a different ISP then visit the homepage and check under Help or Support for the correct settings.
