415699 2005-12-25 08:37:00 Hi, and a Happy Christmas to you all.
I recently formatted C: (no partition & no back-up). Reinstalled ME & got drivers for scanner, printer,& sound. But I'm stuck with safe-mode-colours. The motherboard is Microstar 6378 but nowhere can I down load a driver - there're plenty of sites, but...........
Can anyone please help.
Cheers Sarum

PS I asked this question before with another comp: & got help and a CD to restore the colour .

415700 2005-12-25 08:43:00 Hi and Merry Xmas Sarum :)

You can download VIA chipset and other drivers for your motherboard from here (www.msi.com.tw). Make sure you check your motherboard PCB version for some of those files.

415703 2005-12-26 00:13:00 Thankyou all three of you. You all led me to the same site, and I downloaded.

VIA® KLE133/PLE133 VGA Drivers. For 6378.

An icon named kle9x49 appeared on the desk top and on clicking it 42 files filled my desktop. None of the files activated anything; so I down loaded the 4in1 ( VIA Chipset 4in1 Drivers) and got an icon called VIA4_v5.00in1. On opening this I'm asked which program do I want to use.
May I trouble you good people further by asking what I should do next; please.
Cheers Sarum

415704 2005-12-26 01:12:00 You should have unzipped it into a folder of it's own eg right click and select extract to kle9x49.
Never mind, one of the 42 files on your desktop is named setup.exe
Double click it and your video drivers will install

Reboot then run the via 4in1 installer

The via 4in1 is a zip file which will need to be 'unzipped' with winzip, winrar or ME's built in zipping utility right clicking and selecting extract to VIA4_v5.00in1
Then run the installer inside the newly created folder named VIA4_v5.00in1

Then download the latest version of directx and install that as well

415705 2005-12-26 02:03:00 Homer thanks for your reply. There's no setup.exe among those 42 files; there's setupdir. containing 16 files(numbers only). I've clicked on all of
them with; usually 'you're trying to open a dat. file.'
With the 4in1 download there's a setup file, but on clicking it I get
'Setup unable to find _SETUP>DLL'
'Error 103'
I'm really sorry I didn't backup everything - but too late now.
Do you have any other thoughts.
Thanks, Sarum.

415707 2005-12-26 21:55:00 Hi again Homer. I downloaded the driver again; found the Setup.exe and bingo - what a relief.
Thankyou so much, and my thanks also to Jen and another who took time on Christmas evening to offer help. A Happy and Healthy New Year to you all.
(Homer do try speaking to Mrs Simpson, some of Bart's problems may be due to domestic unease).
Cheers Sarum.
