415688 2005-12-25 01:41:00 I'm running windows xp pro,3.2 GGHz pentium 4,1 gig of kingston hyperX ddr 400 Mhz memory, ati radeon x9800xt 256 mgb graphic card,wd caviar main drive 80gigs and seagate 200 gigs drive for storage. For last 7-10 days when I right click on my desktop to access display properties, memory usage rises from around 400 mgb to 1.6 gigs (including page file),it eats up everything there is,same goes if I go to control panel to access display properties. This is what i tried so far-msconfig is really clean and only few programs are loading at start up / i ran spywarebot search and destroy / ran adaware / avg antivirus / norton scan / mcaffee online scan / registry cleaner and optimizers / ewido secirity suite / defragmented drives / trendmicro online spyware scan-however there's no virus no spyware found (except cookies).
When memory usage rises I open task manager to check for running processes and at that time (when trying to open display properties) rundll32.exe usage shows to be around 700-800 mgb, explorer exe reads at least 100 mgb, everything else looks normal, few megs here and there.I did not install any new hardware ever since this started.I did some web research and there's no help."rundll32.exe" should be regular windows file, however "run32dll.exe" is part of some virus, but I never found it on my pc.Even I try to change wallpaper (and not from display properties),memory usage rises.
Anybody has any tips?
It would be greatly appreciated.Thx.
