415927 2005-12-28 09:26:00 yeh, well I've been to a few sites, and they recomend a whole lotta different settings, I've tried most of them, and they all seem to underclock it...
and then once i boot up windows and run CPU-Z it says my multiplier is always= X11.5, even when i have it at different settings.....
im gonna look at more gigabyte sites..

415928 2005-12-28 10:03:00 Set the CLK_SW to Auto "On"
Set all 6 switches on the CLK_RATIO to Auto "On"

Go into the BIOS and select <F7> to Load the 'Optimized Defaults'
Save and reboot

Let me know what you end up with

415929 2005-12-28 11:44:00 I've been doing a lot more research.and apparently the barton 2600's are locked at 11.5... and resulting in a core speed of around 1913.2....
I did as you said and set at optimal settings, with the jumpers set at AUTO, and the results are the same.
I worked out how to adjust the FSB in BIOS, step by step and I am able to raise the Core Speed above 2000.0.
But when i raise the FSB too much, on bootup it says i have an AMD 2070 or something, but in CPU-Z my Core Speed is still really high...
what should I do? Keep it at a higher Core Speed, even though it says i have a 2070, or should I lower the FSB a bit so it says I have a 2600 still?
Which way is better?
thanks!

415930 2005-12-28 16:31:00 If it is indeed a Barton Core ...

Reset the BIOS to defaults

Set the CLK_SW to Auto "On"

Set the CLK_RATIO to 11.5 which is as follows:
SW1 = OFF SW2,3,4,5,6 = ON
Which will give you 1.917GHz

415931 2005-12-29 03:11:00 yeh I'm sure its a barton core, so it's locked at 11.5, and no matter how i adjust the jumpers its always gonna run at 1.917Ghz.... unless i adjust the FSB in bios...
But when i raise the FSB too much, on bootup it says i have an AMD 2070 or something, but in CPU-Z my Core Speed is still really high...
what should I do? Keep it at a higher Core Speed, even though it says i have a 2070, or should I lower the FSB a bit so it says I have a 2600 still EVEN though it runs at a bit more of a higher clock speed?
Which way is better?

415933 2005-12-29 04:15:00 but in CPU-Z my Core Speed is still really high...

how high
can u give us a screenshot
how do you know it's a barton

415934 2005-12-29 07:16:00 ok. firstly i know its a barton because cpuz states this as so, and also the multiplier is locked at 11.5. I can adjust the FSB though to over clock in BIOS. I can get to about 174 and the CPU will still be recognised as a 2600, but any higher and it states the CPU as a 2013 or something, while the core speed is still really high, such as 2185.2Mhz with a fsb of 190....
I can adjust the FSB in windows using Easy Tuner, and it is stable up until an FSB of around 190, and still states the processor as a 2600... but i have to over clock each time window loads againusing Easy Tuner... the temps aren't too bad, but i havent tested it much using gamesor such as of yet...I'll try and upload a pic so u can see what im rambling about....
