| 416248 | 2005-12-28 06:58:00 | Hey. I'm wanting a laptop for uni. Looking for: 14" - 15." MAX under 2.8kg (wanna be able to carry it around etc) HDD - doesn't matter RAM - 512mb + CPU 1.7ghz + GPU - x700 (wanna be able to play games) My mate has an Acer Aspire 5503 which is perfect! BUT, its about half a year old, and even tho it plays the latest games now, i can see it struggling in a few months. It has all the above - 14" Widescreen, and has an x700 GPU, but it only has 64mb of RAM. This is enof to play BF2 fine (trust me - i couldn't believe it - but it does - smooth as!) What i'm really wanting is the same sorta thing, just with 128mb vid ram. I've done a bit of searching and the only 14" Laptops with the x700 GPU are this one and a $4000+ sony Vaio one. I only wanna spend $2800ish max. btw - the acer 5503 is about $2500 Anyone no any others? |

| 416249 | 2005-12-28 07:59:00 | I'm not up on the latest units, but when I bought mine at the beginning of the year one thing I noticed was that all in my price range had quite low RAM. So don't be concerned about only getting eg 256k - just budget to get an extra add-on stick. | Greg (193) | ||
| 416250 | 2005-12-29 08:38:00 | hey, yea thts a gd pt. GPU can be x700 or 6600Go - with 128mb ram. But i don't think there are any 14" with those GPU's :( theres 15" (not 15.4) but i reckon they'll be to big. anyone have a 15" laptop and can compare it to a 14.1" widescreen? |
