1395635 2015-03-03 10:56:00 While trying to uninstall Glary Utilitys5( No uninstall as part of the program) I read that Comodo System Manager had a good uninstall program. They seem to be reputible, and I use their secure browser for my banking without complaint. After running it , on startup the desktop had few icons, Explorer and Programs showed nothing and on a restart a black screen with the message:
"Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:
<windows root>\system32\hal.DLL
Please reinstall a copy of the above file.

Any ideas, or could someone direct me to a good tech in the South Auckland area? Thanks in advance for any help

1395639 2015-03-03 20:14:00 Thanks for replying, I tried the windows CD (XP), but it just started to install Windows, no menu. The links you gave me seem to indicate access to the menu on the Windows CD a bit of a problem for me. I possibly need some sort of disc that operates off the disc and does not use the Hard Drive ?? 1395641 2015-03-03 21:53:00 You could try Paragon boot repair.
Latest version here, havent tried that one.

www.paragon-software.com

Or you could do a windows repair install.
