| 1382620 | 2014-08-30 04:29:00 | If he had been fed just water, he would've barely lost any weight either in a very long time. If hed been fed just water he would have died weeks ago with the associated weight loss that follows death and cremation. As for Stomach Stapling, it is a last option procedure. But the general public is warned again and again that stomach stapling should not be considered a cosmetic procedure. And it should only be a last option if a person is morbidly obese and after diet and exercise have failed. Morbidly obese patients are vulnerable to pneumonia, infection and pulmonary embolism during surgery. Gastric bypass surgery also carries the risk of torn sutures and stomach staple disruption in morbidly obese patients. Comment: "Morbidly obese" is currently defined as 100 pounds overweight but less overweight patients may have the stomach stapling surgery if their weight is causing a "life-threatening problem." This makes the demand for stomach stapling surgery a more subjective decision because being less than 100 pounds overweight can still be associated with a life-threatening condition. |

That is just pointing out the dangers associated with stomach stapling. Exercise is not feasible for the morbidly obese, and 'dieting' so-called, fails with these people because they eat too much, they are unable to control their eating. With stapling they are forced to eat less and feel full because their stomachs are now smaller |

Probably the same reason why alcoholics dont stop drinking. As for as being fat and lying in bed and not eating and losing weight, well breathing does not burn much calories. Fat is a hydrocarbon you can race a 1 ton car 3000ft up a mountain at 120kph on one cup of petrol another hydrocarbon. |

My friend did that, she lost nothing after her stapling. A lady I knew down South had it done, initially lost weight, then ate herself back up to her original weight. And it does cause a lot of problems that some don't take into account, you have the permanent version of the op, you'll have lifelong issues. |

Incorrect on that. & And it does cause a lot of problems that some don't take into account, you have the permanent version of the op, you'll have lifelong issues. We know this person who tried everything in the way of diets, changed how and what they ate, they couldn't exercise any more than they did unless at it all day, and while they did lose a bit of weight it came back again. Then theres another that did have stomach stapling, yep lost weight, BUT now cant put any weight on and to be honest is now going the other way, too thin, think of it like a car radiator with a leak, doesn't matter how much water you put in its still leaking and you have to keep topping it up, so if they are not eating a lot --OK smaller portions of course the weight lose could be dangerous. |
