A person may need a certain medication to control some sort of ailment, which cant be controlled any other way. If this is the case then its either take your meds or die or have some other sort of negative reaction which would be far worse than gaining a few pounds.

Some will always then say eat differently to counter react it -- That's not always possible as not enough food of the right type will also have a negative effect.

Who really cares what someone else looks like, if that person(s) are happy so what, NO ONE is perfect -- At the end of the day anyone who judges anyone else by their looks alone is very shallow.

My thoughts exactly

They eat. They eat sugar drinks, chips, bread, stuff like that.
Lots of it.

However countries with actual famines, there sure aren't any fat people there.

How about you go read up properly and get your facts right before slagging everyone else.

Actually it is.
Yes, medications can affect the way you digest the food. Studies have shown your mothers nourishment during pregnancy can affect your tendency to fatness too.

But it's all a tendency to it.
That alone won't make you fat.

If you know you have a tendency to it, and it bothers you, the you just have to adjust your eating or your activity accordingly. Sitting back and whining that it's not your fault is a cop out.

And no, I don't judge anyone on weight. I have a friend who is very fat. She's done all sorts of radical things, it's wrecking her health. I told her to give up and live with being "curvy".

I'm fat. Not so fat it's an issue, but fatter than I used to be, so don't accuse me of picking on anyone, if I'm picking on anything it's the BS that some come up with to make excuses.

I make no excuses for myself, whatever may have given me a tendency, if anything did, it's because I eat the same as I used to but am a lot less active.

Those two sentences sound a bit contradictory to me.

1382615 2014-08-29 23:05:00 A couple of things, for those who are science deniers out there, then you should see Don Prothero's lecture on 'The Mind of the Science Denier':

Secondly those who deny that eating less will reduce weight, please explain how stomach stapling works.

1382616 2014-08-30 01:04:00 Secondly those who deny that eating less will reduce weight, please explain how stomach stapling works . I dont think any one is actually saying eating less wont reduce weight, what is being said is its not the only answer and cause .

If a person doesn't eat right or enough of the right foods there can be other side effects that will be a lot worse than gaining a few kilos .

1382617 2014-08-30 01:54:00 I guess it is a simple enough problem to those who don't have it. R2x1 (4628)
1382618 2014-08-30 02:22:00 Well for your consideration how about this?

I have a couple of mates that contradict the simplicity of the Weight is proportionate to Food intake argument .

One is a big eater and drinker, but has to run around in the shower to get wet .

The other ate what I would call normally and whilst being the same height as myself, was 103kg as opposed to my 85kg . Now this poor chap has been in hospital for 10 weeks suffering from an acute Stroke which has left him paralysed down the right side and unable to talk or swallow . This in turn has led to him being fed through a tube up his nose and into the stomach . Now my point is he is being fed only the minimum necessary to keep him alive but after 10 weeks is still 96kg .

So thinking about this took me back to my farming background and rearing calves .
You know I could take say 30 calves of the same breed, all the same weight at birth, drench them all the same day, graze them in the same paddock, and 12 month later I had a cross section from Fat ones to dog tucker .

Then along came science with anabolic steroids, and then you could expect some serious weight gain .

So, I’m afraid I must side with Dave and support the side that says being fat is not just a matter of food intake, there are other factors . ;)

Well, there you are, you've answered yourself, the only exercise he's had is breathing. If he had been fed just water, he would've barely lost any weight either in a very long time.
