2015-02-28 00:39:00 | Just downloaded both files . The Cx86OS-20150129010101 . img Not sure what to do, with it . Windows does not recognise it, thought was compressed to tried 7 Zip that says unsupported command . Downloaded about 3 or 4, all the same . HELP, Please?????? When you download the file it comes in a zipped format . Once you extract it using your fav zipping program, I use Peazip, but the article says you can use 7Zip . Then you fire up the other program linked, ----- Image Writer . Step 1 . In the top window you point it at the image file Step 2 . Select the USB drive ( double check in my computer that you have the right drive letter) then click Write ( step 3) You'll see a progress bar as it burns to the USB drive, then boot from that drive once finished . 6241

2015-02-28 00:54:00 | Just tried the unzipping on a different PC that has 7Zip-- it works as fine -- Right click the zipped file - Extract here - it will then extract the .img file to the same location. 6242 Then follow above post to burn to USB.

2015-02-28 05:00:00 | You need to use the image writer program to put the IMG file on your flash drive. Very similar to burning an ISO file to CD.

2015-02-28 05:31:00 | Finally downloaded the file and it comes out as, meOS-Vanilla-4028 . 0 . 2013_04_20_1810-r706c4144 . img An img file, that I can't open . Sorry, but enough is enough . Bye now???????????????? I've already twice posted how to do it, and provided links to the program . YOU DONT OPEN THE IMAGE Nowhere was it mentioned you open the image - you burn it with the Imageburner that I linked . Then you fire up the other program linked, ----- Image Writer . Step 1 . In the top window you point it at the image file Step 2 . Select the USB drive ( double check in my computer that you have the right drive letter) then click Write Just In case you dont know already, you WONT get a OS like Windows, MAC etc, all you'll get is a web page, Chrome OS is designed to work from Cloud Computing, Eg: google Doc's etc . The entire Chrome project revolves around the cloud computing model . That fancy term simply means that all of your data and applications are stored online, in the "cloud," so that you can access them from any computer, anywhere .

2015-02-28 07:51:00 | I am impressed with your patience Wai :) Thanks Clive :) OKAY IAN ----From the beginning, EACH step with Pictures and links, Got SWMBO to do it / Test - and she has no clue as to what I'm doing here. Note: previous link to the OS has been taken down when a newer one was posted, so all links below at the moment are working. 1.st -- if not already done so download the IMAGE WRITER and install it --- Direct download sourceforge.net If you get an error when opening the first time close the window and it will work fine next time 6246. 2. Download the latest img /zipped file of Chrome OS. Again DIRECT link chromium.arnoldthebat.co.uk Save it to someplace ( desktop is good). The page for the images, currently second up from bottom of list: chromium.arnoldthebat.co.uk Once downloaded you will have a zipped file like this: ( may look different if you dont use Peazip, BUT it will be a zipped file.) 6245 RIGHT CLICK the Zipped file, using 7zip, select extract here. 6247 You will then have two files, the zipped and the extracted. 6248 Plug in the USB drive you want to add the image to, it should pop up saying what the drive letter is, if not then open Computer and look to see what its saying, Now go back to Image Writer, in the top box you need to add the Image file, click on the Blue folder at the end of the window, navigate to the desktop where the image file is and select it. On the right of the folder will be a drive letter, make sure its the right USB drive if you have more than one attached, if you only have 1 USB drive attached the letter on the right will auto detect: 6249 Once the image is loaded, drive in, click Write -- It will do the rest, once done remove the USB drive and boot from it -- There is Chrome OS. AGAIN got SWMBO to follow these instructions and she did it without any more of my help.
