1383490 2014-09-10 06:57:00 As for wireless charging I am yet to see one that doesn't require a cradle or that could take different devices.

What about the Qi charging pad I have near me right now?

I have no idea, my idea of wireless charging would be a oversized mouse pad that you could just throw device onto, not just something that has to be placed onto, otherwise just plug it in, it takes as much effort

The more expensive ones are probably drop and charge :p

Heading in the right direction, but I think until some standard is reached I will give it a miss. Unless of course you can say use this system and pop over to a mates house and use what ever system he has and so on. At the moment everyone had a charger laying around that's going to work.

1383495 2014-09-10 10:26:00 It was a sarcastic question on my half, I am an android user myself. As for wireless charging I am yet to see one that doesn't require a cradle or that could take different devices.

Now the funny part is I'm not an android user :D

It's actually much more convenient than plugging it in and there is no wear on the port (not that wearing the port out has been an issue for me). Also if the phone rings while on charge you just pick it up, no annoying cord to deal with.

I have a Qi compatible samsung charging pad for my Note 3 and it's brilliant, just slightly larger than the phone and sitting next to my keyboard at home.
Whenever I sit down at the PC at home I just put it down on the charging pad, phone is always charged. As a bonus if I get any other Qi compatible devices I can use the same charging pad.

To be honest I first got wireless charging for my previous phone just because I thought it was a cool (but not needed) gimmick. After using it for a couple weeks I would never go back to using the cable and I'm considering a car cradle with Qi charging as well.

I remember Nokia made a cradle with wireless charging as well as an integrated NFC tag - put your phone in the cradle and it automatically starts a navigation app as well as charges. :D
