| 1395826 | 2015-03-06 21:37:00 | Bottom right of screen shows "Build 9600" Getting prompts to activate. No indication of how long it will run. The screen showing the build number means its not activated usually. Which the Trial doesn't do, they generally run on a timer ( so many days) Depending on what type of Key it has will determine when it prompts. If a Default or system Builder ( OPK's) then they wont last long, 30 days from memory. To see how much is left, go to the start menu, type in Winver double click it, and a window will open giving info including the expiry date. 6258 Example, heres a shot of Windows 10 6259 |

Hmmmmmmm OK, do this (I touched on it before) Open a CMD from the start page, type in slmgr -dli <Press Enter> you should get a windows open after a few seconds. Just installed the real W8.1 Trial, and this is what Shows: 6260 Where did you get the ISO / Download from ? And did you have to enter a Product Key at the time ? If you did then do a google search for the Product Key, it will tell you what type of key it actually is (trial or not) If you don't have the key handy, then use something like www.winkeyfinder.com (www.winkeyfinder.com) ( grey /Black button on the Left) and enter it into Google, if its a Standard Trial Key it will be everywhere. BTW-- just going back to the start of this thread, if you have pro installed, you cant enter a Standard product key to activate, it has to be Pro, as STD doesn't have features That pro has. If it was the other way around you could, and the features would install /Activate. |

| 1395829 | 2015-03-07 01:23:00 | Gosh, you didn't need to go to all that trouble. It's not a big issue really. I did check from CMD, thats where those lines in post #9 came from. Havent worked out how to post an image on here yet, but was totally different from yours. I cant recall where I downloaded the ISO from. Wasn't from MS though. From memory there was less strings attached to getting it than MS had. So there was no product key or any other info. All starting to sound a bit dodgey. So if SWMBO gets to like it Ill buy a std DVD version. The one I linked from DTC Systems looks a good deal. |

| 1395830 | 2015-03-07 03:46:00 | Wasn't any trouble, just connected a Drive and loaded it in while having a cuppa. Ever notice a lot of tech videos on Youtube and other sites have the trail software as a Working OS when doing a demo. You can get 270 days out of it for free by re-arming (read between the lines) :xmouth: |
