Android is Google.
You are now part of the machine.

:p

But seriously, look at all the permissions you give to 'apps' . Worry about that instead (or not)
Ever wondered why a newspaper app needs to access your contacts. Or why some apps need access to the camera/mic , access to you files, or ability to send txt's etc etc

"why a newspaper app needs to access your contacts" - because Android OS allows you to share data. If you select the "<" icon to share a page, the app has to be able to access another application (the "People" app, in this case).

Same deal for sharing photos/recordings/files/texts etc.

Why does a flashlight app need all those permissions ?
Thats the point, too many apps have to much access to our 'stuff'

Couldn't agree more. I have just got a new Sony Xperia and wanted to put a torch app and a compass app on it.
I had to try about a dozen free apps before I found two that didn't want access to my life's story.

F - Droid has some good FOSS apps and I got pretty well set up just using that and a few apk's available elsewhere.
I found that the device was eminently usable without the play store ... but I have now joined the collective for some apps that I wanted but couldn't get anywhere else.
After spending a bit of time turning off all the auto-sync crap and disabling a lot of the foistware I think I've got it mostly under control again.
