1382857 2014-08-31 11:21:00 As I said, really not looking for anything in particular, just looking, and wondered what apps people who already use 8.1 were really impressed by.

That having said, a modern app that can read .docx files would be nice if you know of a good one.

One App I just found, go to the Store, do a search for .docx reader, theres a free App called Word Viewer:

Personally I dont use many of the actual Apps, rather use programs the usual way ( Office or PDF readers (nitro)for example )

1382858 2014-08-31 22:14:00 I suggest.....all of these
Norton Utilities, Norton Internet security,
some video streaming programs(that run P2p in the background),+ Bittorrent. Just to suck out the last bit of life from your internet bandwidth & stop the rest of you family using it.
memory defrager, disk defragger,
McAffe AV running in tandem with Norton
You'll also need at least 7 IE toolbars/addons . One of the excellent PCSpeedup utilities .
Winzip:expired trial version of course , just to stop those pesky Zips from ever opening again.

You may cringe, but its not that uncommon .

1382863 2014-09-01 03:36:00 I can understand wanting the latest and greatest, but windows ? :illogical Really? What do you see in it?The light! Greg (193)
1382864 2014-09-01 03:49:00 Not going to open a can of worms like PCUSER said, But have you actually used for a while the latest windows ( and I mean for a few months not just 5 minutes) . Many here once said it was bad, but after its improvements those same people have now stated differently.I'm a new adopter, but not out of choice. When I first got it I was in these forums nearly 24/7 asking for help. Still miss my Vista. Greg (193)
1382865 2014-09-01 03:52:00 Just look on the store, AGAIN theres to many to mention. You need to define more as to what to do. Games, Business, Social Media ???

Move your mouse to the top of the screen, it pops down

The screen shot BTW was taken with a third Party piece of software called -- Lightshot (app.prntscr.com)

What you want to do as well, is make sure all the latest upgrades are in some of the newer options / features wont work till they are all in. Right click on the start button ( when on desktop) control Panel, Windows updates. Run it manually till there's no more. If it hasn't been updated fully, there could be well over 1GB of updates.
