1382706 2014-08-28 22:47:00 I assume, then, that it is not as simple as putting two pages side by side & dragging across? PJ

Well not really unless you heavily edit the html in the template. Or find online a template that does allow dragging.

But... I think the gadgets/widgets maybe a bit confusing at first. Forget using them for now. Start of with a basic one column template (which in layout mode should have only gadgets along the top/bottom) if you simply just want to write articles. Hopefully 1 column template available in blogger. Gadgets are normally used/deployed in 2 or 3 column template, often useful later on when you publish more articles. You can also change to 2 or 3 column template later if you want to utilize gadgets. One column (bit.ly) vs 3 columns (bit.ly) (images).

For adding articles/content click new post to open a blank page to start writing. You may want to have new posts per chapter or article. You can select under edit, (bit.ly) the number of posts to be displayed under blog post widget in layout mode.

Note: The "pages" (support.google.com) tab allows you to add tabs along the top, not really for writing/adding articles.

1382709 2014-08-30 07:04:00 How do I change the text colour of posts. They are white at the moment & almost impossible to read. Thanks. PJ Poppa John (284)

Click template (between layout and settings). This shows a mini preview. Then click customize, then Advanced. This shows a menu at the top L/H side. Then click Advanced which will then show another menu to change color (codes) for various components/sections including for text. That's the basic approach - However not all templates support/display color menus as I have described. Also color selection may be limited.

The other more customized approach - though a bit tedious is adding scripts to the template (edits) as described here. (www.betatemplates.com)

Note: Avoid using white text on white background, aside from difficulty reading, Google warns not to do it - as I discovered once. It's seen as a trick to deceive visitors to illegitimate content. Risk getting removed fro their index. Odd then how you got white/white in blogger (owned by Google), should have been black text.

1382711 2014-08-30 08:08:00 Great, text colour changed. Now that I can see it I want to alter & delete some of it. Had a look at it & cannot find anything. How do I change text? Thanks. PJ Poppa John (284)
1382712 2014-08-30 08:35:00 So you have a post open, of which text is present and visible. Is it in compose mode (not html)? You should see a menu - similar to MS Word standard functions. If you mean "change text" - to another font - then fonts in the menu should be visible in compose mode. It defaults to Normal. kahawai chaser (3545)
1382713 2014-08-30 09:11:00 Not exactly. The text is on the home page as an introduction. Now that I can see it I want to change it. I cannot see "Edit" anywhere. PJ Poppa John (284)
1382714 2014-08-30 10:54:00 Okay - bit elusive that one - edits or post removal are done from the post list. You need hover across the blog post title. Not the blog title. Which I think is the text you refer to on the home page.

So click the blog title, of which the L/H menu appears. Then click on posts (after overview tab/link), and a list of post title(s) should appear. Once you hover over the post title, a menu appears below it. This includes the edit and delete tab which are barely visible. Click them to make changes. Can also enter post lists by clicking a little icon next to the blog title.

It might default to html mode for editing. Best to use compose mode initially. Then click update tab (or publish tab if it appears). It will become live, or waiting to be indexed, on the internet.

If however you want to edit/change the blog title itself, you go to layout mode, and a edit link is present in the title box. You may need scroll across to see it. Opens up another box for changes and options.
