2014-09-11 12:06:00 | Tonight at approx 10.15pm on the motorway between Porirua and Johnsonville, I was on the receiving end of road rage from an idiot driving a red 1997 Jeep Wrangler, registration FJL97 I was pursued by this driver through the Johnsonville Road Countdown car park to the "Z" Service Station, where when he realized that I was phoning the Police and was quoting his registration number, took off in the direction of Wellington. To the idiot driving that vehicle - I have lodged an official complaint with the New Zealand Police. I hope that you have a good evening.

2014-09-11 23:06:00 | Anyone who chases other motorists for anything short of an actual accident causing some kind of harm has a problem regardless of who's at fault. I seldom get upset at other drivers unless they do something bad enough to give me a fright and even then wouldn't go chasing after them. If someone caused an accident and did a runner maybe. I'm a big guy, and in my youth tended to wear a lot of black and long hair etc (yes I'm a total bogan not that you'd know it to look at me now). One time cruising slowly at 35-40km/h through an industrial area looking for a right turn I accidentally cut off some Idiot who decided to pass me at an intersection in a 50k zone. I guess holding him up for 30 seconds while I read the road signs was too much. He parked in the middle of the road and came running up to the car to rage at me. I found it hilarious as he started to go off his nut, saw this large bogan in a valiant looking at him in amusement, and rapidly returned to his car with a parting shot of "and anyway you shouldn't do that". He was never in any danger from me but I remember it well many years later. He did more wrong than I did technically but felt the need to vent at me.

2014-09-12 06:24:00 | So what did you do to cause the rage? :D Moved lanes without indicating? Drove too slow? Drove too fast? Towed a trailer/boat/caravan? Had the wrong sort of car? Nothing? It doesn't really matter.......violence towards someone who makes a mistake is mad. Once on State Hwy 1, lane each side of the centre, a truck-trailer decided to pass us in the slow ute. He picked a bend to do it on, another truck came the other way and he was forced to pull back in, thus shoving us off the road into the gravel. We missed hitting the trees or crashing. We made rude remarks about him to ourselves as he disappeared into the distance but did not chase him and leap out and try and attack him. Well, not that we could have, but even so....

2014-09-12 06:56:00 | Since having kids 17 odd years ago my whole attitude towards driving changed. Now im never in a hurry, quite often pull over to let people pass and get called a nana by mates. It amuses me when cars pass you on the Motorway only to pull behind them at lights | plod (107) | |
2014-09-12 07:46:00 | When speeding it takes a long time and a lot of fuel at 140kph to make up for the time you spend at the gas station getting more fuel to waste hastily. | R2x1 (4628) | |
2014-09-13 10:37:00 | I watch my fuel economy closely and I'm disappointed if I don't get 700+ K's on a 55 litre fill (900K's on a down-country trip, 2.3 litre Mazda 6 SW). I usually cruise at an indicated 90km/hr, which is actually around 95km/hr according to the occasional speed check, and I always pull over to let faster drivers pass. However, in recent times I have been surprised by the number of drivers now travelling at speeds well under the limit on Auckland's motorways, and on a recent trip to Hamilton hardly any cars passed me on the motorway or the expressway. Maybe petrol prices are finally hitting home? Cheers Billy 8-{)
