| 416696 | 2005-12-30 22:32:00 | i got a intell pentium 11 processor computer 348 mhz 224 mb of ram i been trying to hook up a 40 gig seagate harddrive and sometimes it dectets it and sometimes not i put the ribbon on it can not rember the name of the ribbon sorry and the jumpers on the hardrive and the power conneckor now do i have to put the bios? i been trying to hook it up for a few days with the luck when i do get the hardrive to work i restart the computer and nothing there in bios any help would be great thanx | brentlly (9505) | ||

| 416698 | 2006-01-02 22:57:00 | Once you connect it to the motherboard, you have to configure it in the BIOS, either under Primary master, or slave, or secondary master/slave (put it on auto in the BIOS) . What IDE connector did you connect it to on the motherboard? Then it should work . The BIOS has to recognise the hard drive, before windows will see it . Also, make sure the IDE cable you're using, is the right way round . If the IDE cable you're using has a blue connector on one end, the blue end gets connected to the motherboard, NOT to the hard drive connection . |
