416880 2006-01-01 18:28:00 Another vote for IHUG. I am on the 2+2GB plan for $39.95. 2 Mbs is great.
And yet another vote for IHUG.

416881 2006-01-01 19:27:00 I am with NZs most hated one. There is not enough incentive from any of the others to make me change. Which is pretty sad really, no real competition. PJ :2cents: :2cents:
Ditto. I don't have any problem with their plan at all. Couldn't care less about upload speed and couldn't care less about P2P - which is why most people moan all the time anyway. Too slow, not enough cap for their piracy.

416882 2006-01-01 19:34:00 I remember when I was with Ihug dialup there were quite a few connectivity issues.. under broadband have they finally gotten there crap together??

It was because of those issues I counted out Ihug when I went broadband

(sorry for the slight hijack but I'm wondering why the big vote for ihug is all)

416883 2006-01-01 19:37:00 I've been with Ihug for nearly 3 months now - and I have never had a single problem with it. Speed is consistently fast, I never have to reconnect, billing is done correctly and on time.

My only gripe is the fact that they've got their act together and begin speed-shaping as soon as you exceed your cap, rather than Telecom who seemed to wait a few days. Can't complain though.

416884 2006-01-01 20:29:00 IHUG

I have been with them for 9 years and have always found them to be very professional and helpful whenever I have got into the krap.

I'm using bliink 2Mb lite and have Direct Dial Discount.

416885 2006-01-01 22:42:00 Another vote for Telecom, as stated by Poppa Tom, my personal experiance with Telecom has been good and have no incentive to change.

However I do keep an eye on the "broadband" threads, you can always learn something from others.

Cheers

416886 2006-01-01 23:08:00 Another vote for Telecom

I have to say No to Xtra / Telecom.

416887 2006-01-01 23:33:00 I used Orcon for about seven years, both dial-up and adsl, and was pretty thrilled with their service 99.9% of the time. Now with Xtra and they're great too. Greg (193)
416888 2006-01-02 00:20:00 This topic always reminds me of the question,"How long is a piece of string?" There is NO answer.

"Two times half its length" :)

I'm with xtra.. I reckon the upload rate is pretty stupid but I don't do much uploading anyway. It's good enough for me and there's no reason I can see to go through all the hassle of changing it.

416889 2006-01-02 00:45:00 Joe thats America, NZ doesn't have that sort of speed :groan: so if you don't mind, please don't taunt us here :p

My thought here . . . even if you don't like it:

If you are satisfied with the status quo, then there's nothing I can do to help . . . not even emote for you . . . but I suppose that's not really the right thing for either of us to do .

I however suggest a ploy that works well here in the US where we have to deal with great big impersonal and aloof companies that don't give a fig about the consumer .

You see, we too have remote areas, yours are just more widespread . But my point is this: If you don't complain loudly about the crappola service you get . . . then what can I say . I am trying to incite a little fire here . It comes down to $$ either in NZ or the US .

The areas in the US rurals that have nothing but dial-up are quickly being changed over to DSL . . at least a faster-than-dial-service called DSL anyway .

I truly want the new FIOS, which is just a few blocks away from me at the moment . How did it get that close? Our town is just over 12,000 persons and we are a long way from LA . We complained and complained and then we complained some more . Even the rurals are getting the newer (although slightly crippled) new DSL plan that Verizon now offers for just $14 . 95US a month .

Start a campaign and call every day . . several times a day and see if you can swamp the local ISP's with . . what do I say here . . . . veiled threats in the form of complaints? It works/worked here . . why not there? If youse guys can get a bunch of drunk Santas in cheap Santa suits to get together for a single concept . . how hard can it be for this much more noble windmill tilt?

Please be assured that I am sorry you have such rotten service . . . stiff upper lip and all that rot . . . but I would gladly give any of you some of my speed and prices were it possible . We both had the same red-coats to . . . . er . . . correct about our choice of lifestyles . . . please don't lose that ruggedness that I so well know exists in Kiwiland .
