I find that RW disks are not quite as good, i would just pay the $$ to use normal disks.

that way you have backups going back many week too.

417628 2006-01-03 08:31:00 RW disks are not as reliable for back ups Prescott (11)
417629 2006-01-03 08:36:00 Yeah true, just looking at the prices for both types and I think that it would be best to get straight recordable media.

Are there any other backup systems that you guys think will work well also?

Just drag and drop then burn your folders that you need backed up.
Backup software generally needs the software to see and reinstall the data, with drag and drop system you can check your back ups on any system :2cents:

417631 2006-01-03 10:28:00 Direct your saved stuff to my documents, and have this folder sorted with subfolders etc,so its easier for you to know what you need to back up. Prescott (11)
417632 2006-01-03 10:32:00 Maybe MS Backup can do it? Part of windows. It should do incremtntal backups after you choose the folders u like to be backed up. Then burn to DVD.

If you want to backup windows as well and the softwares maybe something like Norton Ghost can be used. So you have minimal down time or maybe you can have another HDD for RAID mirror mode.

If you run Ghost .. have that for all the windows and softwares. Use MS Backup for your files.

If I am not mistaken, Pioneer will release the much-awaited blu-ray drives and disks at the early beginning of this year. Perhaps patience in this situation might be beneficial? Have you ever thought of backing up files via the Internet, Reality? Check out streamload at www.streamload.com

Cheers :)
