| 417463 | 2006-01-02 19:09:00 | I've been having some problems with my PC locking up, and last time I rebooted, I found most of my Firefox settings (toolbar, bookmarks etc) had disappeared. Does anyone know where they live, so I can try to recover them? My cookies seem to be OK, as PressF1 still knew who I was. TIA and a happy new year, and please treat PC_man_is_back with the disdain due to an ignorant dork, and don't look at the posts. :yuck: |

Browse to C:\Documents and Settings\YourProfileName\Application Data\somejumbledletters\Default\Bookmarks.html YourProfileName is whatever profile you set yourself up with. Somejumbledletters could be anything - just look around. Your particular path may differ. But it's easy enough to simply use Windows built-in search function and look for bookmarks.html |

| 417467 | 2006-01-03 00:25:00 | It seems Firefox automatically takes backups - neat!Well done. But that's not actually a backup as I understand it - it's where the program calls the file from. So if you want a backup, then backup that Documents and Settings folder. | Greg (193) | ||
| 417468 | 2006-01-03 01:45:00 | After having experienced "lost all bookmarks" twice when useing Firefox, I regularly (especially after adding a new bookmark) go Bookmarks\Manage Bookmarks\File\Export and save the bookmarks.html file to my desktop. Result = no more lost Bookmarks :) |

Well, the full path is C:\Documents and settings\...\...\Firefox\Profiles\9ybrcrzr.default \bookmarkbackups\bookmarks-2005-12-30.html (and 12-30 through 01-03). Those files sure look like backups, and weren't created manually by me. Maybe I installed a plugin that I've forgotten about that does it automagically. | Tony (4941) | ||
