I'm not really sure because I heard you could make a file on C: and it won't be deleted when you reinstall windows? am i correct? If you want to completely reinstall Windows on a hard drive and format ( clean install then no ). Not on the C: drive anyway. However if you have one hard drive with more than one partition or logical drive then you can. The file will not be resident on C: though after installing Windows on a clean install. It could be saved to a second partition on the one hard drive for example. So if you have ONE hard drive then this drive can contain more than one partition. Some partitions can also be hidden on a hard drive. You can have ONE Hard drive with one primary partition and an extended partition for example the extended partition can contain many logical drives. First of all what are to trying to do? What operating system are you using? Do you have a computer with ONE hard drive and one optical like CDROM/DVD/CDWriter/VirtualCDs/DVDs? When you power up your computer and look in My Computer do you see A: C: and D: and that is all? We need more info to solve the problem. Do you have a CD or DVD writer? |

I don't have any partitions but if i were to make would i have to install windows on that one too. I just have C: Burning to cd's or dvd's isn't a choice since It would take a lot of dvd's. -I'm using xp and i'm reinstalling |
