| 417782 | 2006-01-07 21:28:00 | Cybergran, I seen that after Nortons is disabled you are going to use the windows firewall, personally, I wouldnt, zone alarm is free, and I would use that as a better option. I am half asleep, so most likely missed half of the comments, but I use windows update for the windows update, set so they can download, but I agree for the to install, that way I can keep an eye on what downloads I install on what day, just in case the puter goes screwy. As for your problem at ms, my puter used to do that, which is why I switched my automatic settings to download but ask to install. If you ever want to pay for a virus protection, I also was impressed with Nod32, on a trial I did of it, but I still use AVG free for that, and wouldn't be without my SpyBot and Adaware, and once you install Firefox, I don't think you will go back to IE. It seems to surf faster on everyone's puter that I know. Have fun, congratulations on the new puter. |

| 417786 | 2006-01-15 05:12:00 | just a note, ms firewall works with most software firewalls. two don't hurt some trojans will go after a firewall first. surf safe is another way of staying safe. | jargonize (8111) | ||

| 417788 | 2006-01-15 10:36:00 | Adding another item to Prescott's list: Winzip. By the way, MSN Messenger can be a memory-hog application at times. So if you are short of memory in your computer, use Gaim or Trillian instead. You will fall in love with their simplicity :D Cheers :) |

| 417789 | 2006-01-15 21:23:00 | why do you need winzip when you have winrar? Remove the bloat from msn with mess patch. It uses jack all memory anyway. |
