418485 2006-01-06 02:52:00 I have personally tried Norton corp v10 and McAfee corp v8 as well as Kaspersky older version and both McAfee and Kaspersky detected viruses where Norton did not. So that is why I prefer McAfee and Kaspersky.

I have never tried others, and not with NOD as they say NOD does not scan deep inside archives, thus it uses less resources.

I'd like to see some more independent comparative tests, though.

Metla does have a point there :)

418487 2006-01-06 05:09:00 I'm securely anchored to NOD32....it is the best by test,
and the patch over my eye has nothing to do with my opinion

418488 2006-01-06 05:32:00 I would like to see some facts other than opinions. However, I think it is unfair to pit corp versions against home versions, since corp versions most time detect more virus than desktop versions. lightfoot (39)

Sure, come in the shop and watch the reality.

As to corperate versions, are you saying that Nortons and others leave specific virus definitions out of the home user packages so that they get more infections?

No?

Didn't think so, so then, whats the difference apart from level of suport and network features?

Besides, NOD32 only has one version, The Kick Arse release.

418490 2006-01-06 06:46:00 The fact is, I have yet to hear of any one, on this forum, and others that I visit, complain about NOD not doing its job,or how to fix it because it's broken and has corrupted the system.

You can also get all the facts about it you want on Google.
Checking antivirus review archives will give you a clearer idea why it is rated the best.

It's still the best program recommended to me by the members of PressF1, (thanks team).

My anchors still holding strong.

418491 2006-01-06 06:59:00 Ok .. real world test
From the list I have tried Kaspersky pro, Bitdefender 8, NOD32, Antivir, and AVG free

Just my musings here...

Kaspersky is great, if you have 6 hours to wait while it scans the average drive. I have also seen another tech scan with it, remove the "virus file" only to have a non booting win O/S on his hands

BitDefender 8 is quite good, but the new user interface makes it more of a challenge to use.. it also doesn't seem quite as good as what BitDefender 7 was (if it was I wouldn't have used NOD or Antivir)

NOD32 I have yet to find anything wrong with it

Antivir isn't too bad for a freebie, tried it to see what it was like compared to AVG.. both are pretty similar

AVG free - see comment above

I know this has come off the eset website, but these are the facts from Virus Bulletin the place that gives out the 100% award, Virus Bulletin use to have freely avaliable results but now you have to pay.

418493 2006-01-06 10:42:00 I hardly use Norton, but there were many reviews I read gave different rating between corp and desktop . But also, because corp has more frequent updates, whereas, desktop version you get 3 or 4 days later . Kaspersky and McAfee get updates almost everyday . Everyone knew antiviruses are as good as the last update . Norton also previously has a problem in getting it uninstalled - may be they fixed that now . I heard from this forum, I think, that you can uninstall Norton and get stuffed computer . And NOD as I have said does not scan deep inside archives so it is faster and uses less resources .

Others have rcommended to use Nod and Kaspersky together, one residence and the other not .

It is your choice and preference .

But I certainly would like to see some real published review data .

Furthermore, if your file is infected, and it can't be cleaned then it has to be quarantined or deleted and you will have to get a clean file .

Enough from me on this topic!

418494 2006-01-06 10:49:00 Don't get me wrong I am not against NOD, just never use it. I just prefer ones that scan deep inside archives. NOD I am told does not. lightfoot (39)
