418151 2006-01-04 19:32:00 Someone hasn't accidentally denied permission to IE in your firewall have they?Interesting comment. It certainly hasn't been done explicitly. I use the firewall in my Dynalink ADSL Router for security and haven't been in there for months. One thing that has changed in the environment is that one of the PCs on the network has been removed temporarily, and I did wonder if that could have made a difference, though I can't see how. 418153 2006-01-04 20:07:00 For no apparent reason, Internet Explorer 6 on one of our PCs has stopped connecting to anything. Try the suggestion shown on this thread (pressf1.pcworld.co.nz). Greg (193)

418156 2006-01-04 21:09:00 ..went to the horse hisself and got this (support.microsoft.com) .Last resort I think, Joe. I'm not desperate enough yet to want to re-install SP2 just to fix this. :) Tony (4941)
418157 2006-01-04 22:19:00 Have you tried an Internet Explorer repair?

The help files give this advice:

"If you encounter problems that you cannot resolve, it is often beneficial to uninstall Internet Explorer and then reinstall it. This procedure replaces files that might have been damaged.

In Windows, click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
Double-click the Add/Remove Programs icon.
Notes

If you are using Windows XP, click Start, click Control Panel, and then click Add or Remove Programs.
If you upgraded to Internet Explorer 6, when you uninstall Internet Explorer 6, you will go back to the version of Internet Explorer that was on your computer before you upgraded. "

After doing the uninstall I'd reboot, then reinstall.

418158 2006-01-04 23:05:00 Have you tried an Internet Explorer repair?I saw all that stuff, but it only seems to apply if you have actually upgraded IE to a new version. I don't see IE in add/remove programs, and if you go into modify Windows components, unticking IE just removes the icons from view, and doesn't actually uninstall anything. Tony (4941)

Stranger things have happened, Tony. ;)

When is the other PC coming back?
