418255 2006-01-04 16:31:00 Last night I got myself a new 200gb sata drive . I used Norton Ghost to clone my 160gb IDE drive onto it .

Everything works perfectly except for the internet . Networking works perfectly, as I am using remote desktop to write this, so thats not the problem . I have used diferent cables/ports with the same problem .

When accessing the internet, it just times out . I have tried multiple websites and they also work on other pc's .

I was hoping you guys could help me out . Thanks so much in advance!!

418256 2006-01-04 17:14:00 Do you have Norton Firewall? I rember a similar problem with a friend, even though it's a clone, something about the disk signature was wrong.. georgeks (9122)

418258 2006-01-04 23:19:00 I have had funny experiences cloning from IDE to SATA with ghost .

Last time I tried, the SATA drive became D: and removing the original C: drive didn't change it . Windows now on D: was looking for the pagefile/temp files/ something on C:, which had been removed . (it just hung at the welcome screen saying "Microsoft Windows XP")

However when the old C: drive was in, windows would work normally .
I tried changing the paths of all the windows items pointing to C: but it would not work .

Of course windows wouldn't let me change D: to C:, because it was a System drive .

I have cloned from IDE to IDE and the letter automatically changed to C: for the cloned drive .

Eventually I had to do a repair installation of windows . all very weird . maybe something like that has happened with your browser configuration??

418259 2006-01-05 00:29:00 You might try deleting all Internet Explorer cached files.

Tools... Internet Options... Delete files.

Internet Explorer uses a virtualized folder structure, and Windows might be confused.

I think "crap cleaner", ccleaner, might be able to delete this virtual folder for you.
