418131 2006-01-04 06:56:00 Hey i have a file that wont delete. I have tried rebooting and signing in as administrator but it still wont delete. I have tried using "delinvfile", a program designed for this situation and the usually delete. But i have CCleaner and for some reason when i run that it says cannot delete "LAUNCH", which is the file i am trying to delete. BTW it says cannot delete LAUNCH it may be being used by another person or program when i try the normal delete. I have also uninstalled and deleted a program that its from.
So please help.
Cheers

418132 2006-01-04 07:01:00 Try doing the delete in Safe Mode..whatever that file is it should not have much chance of running in such a minimal mode, and you can zap it with ease. SurferJoe46 (51)
418133 2006-01-04 07:06:00 I would be carefull make sure you keep at least a copy of that file, rename if you wish.
There is a reason for its being stubbon, the worst of which is if you are successful in the delete, ITS A REQUIRIED SYSTEM FILE.

418138 2006-01-04 09:56:00 Miscellaneous Tools in Hijackthis has a tool for deleting on reboot. There are many others ie DrDelete. Copy it by Winzipping it or you may have the same problem again. zqwerty (97)
418139 2006-01-04 10:02:00 -Open a Command Prompt window.

-Close any open windows.

-Close explorer.exe there are two ways
-1--start > Turn off computer, hold down CTRL+SHIFT+ALT and press the CANCEL button.
-2--CTRL+ALT+DEL and End task in the process tab

-Go back to the Command Prompt window and change to the directory where the undeletable file is located in. At the command prompt type del <filename>.

-Go back to Task Manager, click File, New Task and enter EXPLORER.EXE to restart the GUI shell.
