419268 2006-01-08 03:09:00 I now have dual booting (Xandros and Simply Mepis). Xandros reckons my external modem is on Com6 and it works fine. However, Mepis can't seem to find the modem. Modem is a new Dynalink 1458VQE plugged into the serial port. I have tried looking on the Mepis forum but have not found the information that I need.

Dual booting was a cinch - I just followed Geoff Palmer's notes from the magazine of about February 2005 and altered liloconf to include the two lines other=/dev/hda3

label=Mepis

I then went into /sbin and ran lilo .

Having spent most of last year using Xandros, the change to Mepis is quite easy to achieve - if only it could find my modem .

cheers,

Jim

419270 2006-01-08 06:45:00 I can't help you with your modem query but for problems with mepis I have had virtually all my problems solved using the mepis lovers forum here (http://www.mepislovers.org/) Morgenmuffel (187)
419271 2006-01-08 08:30:00 Thank you Nigel, I had another search of the Mepislovers forum as you suggested and found a helpful link to the Dynalink modem and the settings required. The modem is now operating.

Cheers,

Jim
